snapWONDERS Vaultify is in early βeta — you may encounter rough edges or unexpected behaviour. Found a bug? Let us know and we'll fix it.

What's Changing

snapWONDERS is evolving — and so is everything built on it. Here's what you need to know about the improvements coming your way.

snapWONDERS is being modernised

The snapWONDERS platform is undergoing a significant modernisation. The goal is a faster, more reliable, and more privacy-respecting experience across every part of the site — from the way pages load to the way your data is handled. This is a substantial piece of work and it is being rolled out gradually, so you may notice improvements appearing over time rather than all at once.

The site you know and use is not going away — it is being improved from the inside out. Content, features, and your existing bookmarks will continue to work throughout the transition.

Introducing Vaultify

As part of this evolution, we are introducing Vaultify — a new privacy-focused service built by goldenSoftwareENGINEERS®, running under snapWONDERS. Vaultify lets you hide, conceal, lock, and protect your digital media, and is available on clearnet, Tor, and I2P simultaneously.

Vaultify is the first of several new services that will be made available under the snapWONDERS umbrella as the platform matures. If you are reading this on Vaultify, you are already seeing the new platform in action.

Fix / Scrub / Sanitise & Regenerate — now Vaultify

snapWONDERS previously offered tools to fix, scrub, sanitise, and regenerate photos, images, and videos — stripping metadata, cleaning files, and reprocessing media before sharing. That functionality has been retired from snapWONDERS and is now fully replaced by Vaultify, which offers significantly more capability in the same space.

Vaultify goes further: beyond scrubbing and sanitising, it lets you hide and conceal your files inside any regular photo or video, lock them with military-grade encryption, and reveal them later — all without trusting a third-party cloud service with your originals. The same privacy-first principles that drove the original snapWONDERS tools now underpin a much more capable platform, available across clearnet, Tor, and I2P.

If you previously used snapWONDERS to clean or reprocess your media, Vaultify is the natural successor — and it does considerably more.

What to expect

  • Some page URLs on snapWONDERS may change as sections are updated. Where possible, old links will redirect automatically.
  • The visual design of snapWONDERS will be refreshed incrementally to align with the new platform.
  • Performance, reliability, and security improvements will roll out continuously — most changes will be invisible to you.
  • New features and services will be announced via the newsletter before they go live.
  • Existing functionality will remain available throughout — we are not removing anything without notice.

JavaScript is required — especially on Darknet

Vaultify requires JavaScript to be enabled. This is a deliberate and justified decision — not a limitation, but a feature of how the platform is built. Here is why.

Uploading via TUS — resilient by design

All file uploads on Vaultify use the TUS protocol (Tus Resumable Upload Specification) — an open, resumable upload standard built specifically for unreliable networks. Instead of sending a file in a single HTTP POST that either succeeds or fails entirely, TUS breaks the upload into small chunks. Each chunk is confirmed by the server before the next is sent. If the connection drops mid-upload — which happens frequently on Tor and I2P due to the nature of onion routing — TUS automatically resumes from where it left off, with no data loss and no need to start over.

This matters enormously on the darknet. Tor circuits rotate, I2P tunnels rebuild, and latency spikes are routine. A traditional upload would fail silently or force the user to restart. TUS was designed for exactly this environment — unreliable, high-latency, intermittent connectivity. The result is that uploading a large media file over Tor is as reliable as uploading over a fast home connection, just potentially slower. TUS handles the reliability so you do not have to.

TUS requires JavaScript to coordinate the chunked upload process, track progress, manage retries, and report status back to you in real time. There is no server-side equivalent that achieves the same result without client-side coordination.

Why JavaScript improves the experience

  • Real-time progress feedback — upload progress, job status, and processing updates are delivered live without page reloads, which is critical when a job may take time over a slow Tor or I2P connection.
  • No accidental double-submits — JavaScript disables submit buttons immediately on click, preventing duplicate jobs from being queued if a slow darknet connection makes a page appear unresponsive.
  • Client-side validation — file types, sizes, and option combinations are checked before anything is sent, saving a full round-trip over a high-latency onion circuit.
  • Graceful session handling — interactive prompts and in-page warnings let you recover from session expiry or upload errors without losing your place in the workflow.
  • Dynamic UI components — dropdowns, modals, and tooltips that guide you through options without navigating away from the page, keeping round-trips to an absolute minimum.

JavaScript and privacy on the darknet — a powerful combination

A common concern is that JavaScript and privacy are at odds. On typical clearnet sites, JavaScript is used for invasive third-party tracking and fingerprinting. On darknet nodes, there are no external resources and no CDN calls — every script loaded is self-hosted and served from the same onion or I2P address you connected to.

What JavaScript does do on Vaultify's darknet nodes is work entirely in your favour: resumable uploads that survive circuit rotations, encrypted file handling that never touches a third-party server, and a smooth interface that reduces the number of HTTP round-trips needed — each of which carries latency cost on the darknet. Less page navigation means fewer opportunities for timing correlation, fewer new Tor circuits opened, and a more efficient use of the anonymity network you are relying on.

In short: JavaScript on Vaultify's darknet nodes makes your session faster, more resilient, and no less private. It is a net positive in every dimension that matters for darknet use.

One account for everything

snapWONDERS and Vaultify are moving to a single unified account. You will log in once and be recognised across the entire platform — no separate credentials, no switching between services.

Login, sign-up, and password recovery will be handled at snapWONDERS, which is the home for your account and profile. If you currently have a snapWONDERS account, it will carry over automatically — you will not need to create a new one. Existing Vaultify users will see the same experience they have today, with the added benefit that one login works everywhere.

A unified API

The snapWONDERS and Vaultify APIs are being brought together under a single address. Rather than two separate endpoints to learn, there will be one — covering conversions, analysis, steganography, and everything else the platform offers.

Vaultify-specific features will continue to be accessible via the Vaultify address as well. If you use the API today, your existing integrations will keep working — this is an addition, not a replacement.

Staying informed

The best way to stay up to date is to subscribe to the Vaultify newsletter using the form at the bottom of this page. We will only send updates when something meaningful changes — no noise, no marketing.

If you have questions about a specific change, or something stops working as expected during the transition, please use the contact form and we will get back to you.
